Part of our overall commitment to social sustainability is our commitment to Occupational Health and Safety Standards.
A combination of Australian Standards accreditation, AQIS approval, TGA certification and independent NATA product testing ensures relevant products meet appropriate health standards and provide peace of mind to users.
We provide Material Safety Data Sheets that suit ISO standards and comply with a 16 header format in a specific layout.
Whilst Cleveland is not qualified to conduct formal Occupational Health and Safety Assessments we can work with sites on training programs for chemical handling, devise methods of waste disposal, assess requirements for erection of signage and the need for or implementation of emergency programs.
It is recommended that a member of each site undergo formal training in the Safe Storage and Handling of Chemical Products. This is to ensure that at all times OH&S legislation covering storage of chemicals is understood and staffs are able to respond quickly to any emergency involving spillage of chemicals
Our standard commitment to all customer sites includes:

As a chemical producer, Cleveland takes pride in meeting the highest environmental standards set by all relevant Australian industry governing bodies such as the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Water Board.
Our management and ownership board are focussed on ensuring Cleveland operates in an ecologically sustainable manner and complies with all Federal, State and Local Government environmental legislation, policies and initiatives.
We work closely with the Department of Environment and Climate Change NSW (DEC) and Workcover to ensure improvements in efficiency and safety in both our business and the industry as a whole.
Cleveland provides executive leadership to Workcover’s Chemical Industry Advisory Committee which meets regularly to address safety.
For over 15 years, Cleveland has been utilizing rainwater collection tanks to supply pure filtered rain water to our manufacturing plant. We recently introduced new initiatives in water management with the installation of a new water treatment filter in our Sydney manufacturing facility. In July 2009 we installed discharge flow metering in our production facility in order to reduce 'grey water' emissions discharged during our manufacturing process.
We are currently investigating ISO14001 compliance which is an internationally recognised environmental management standard with elements of risk analysis, written procedures, monitoring, auditing. It is a system of management focussing on continual improvement to meet an organisation’s ever changing needs.
While offering biodegradable products and continually researching better environmental solutions such as reduced water usage, the primary objective is providing socially responsible products that work effectively and efficiently.
Our efforts extend to packaging recycling and we buy and use recycled materials when safe to do so. We recycle all paper, cardboard, metal and as much plastics packaging waste as possible.
Whilst we are not able to recycle customers' old containers, we can advise customers on how to create a more environmentally sound workplace by utilising disposal or recycling options for supplied packaging.

We are proud to be an Australian Manufacturer of quality products, supporting local Australian businesses and the communities that they serve.
Proudly Australian owned and operated since 1966 under the same ownership structure, and qualified management team, Cleveland is a stable business operating in both Capital Cities and Regional Australia.
Where possible we only use local suppliers and locally sourced products. We employ a broad range people from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures in metropolitan, regional and rural Australia.
We endeavour to support the development of Australian skills through vocational educational support which is offered equally to all employees regardless of age, sex, race or educational experience.
Products that do not meet our rigorous high quality standards for sale but are still acceptable for use are rarely disposed of. We make these products available to charities and disadvantaged community groups both locally and internationally. These have been sent as far afield as Africa.
